“Where do you source your meat Rory? 🤔”
In this simple blog post I want to share with you some of the places I have personally gotten some of my meat from, plus other options. For now I’ll just be sharing the ones that I’m familiar with and will slowly be adding more to the list as I can!
Firstly, since I am based in Australia I can only currently recommend Aussie meat companies and farmers. But if there’s a demand for it, then I may look at compiling together a list for other countries too.
Also, in this blog post I won’t go over why grassfed/organic/regenerative is important. I’ll save that for another blog in the near future.
Quick tips for buying grassfed/organic meat: What I can say, is that whenever you are sourcing your meat… make sure you ask if it’s grassfed or grassfed and finished, and if it’s organic ask if it has a certification or ask about their process. Same with free-range, hormone free, antiobiotic free etc. Be diligent. Any body can slap on a label and use it as marketing, but not all can follow through with the receipts.

This is where I currently get most of my meat at the moment. It’s top notch quality. Everything is organic. You can get beef, lamb, chicken, pork, seafood when it’s in stock, eggs, some condiments and even offal like organic beef liver, beef kidney, organic lamb liver (lamb’s fry), organic chicken hearts and more. They’ve also got great meat on the bone for bone broths, meat stocks and GAPS-friendly foods which makes my gut very happy.

I haven’t tried these guys yet but I’ve heard great things. After their farm was destroyed by bushfires in 2019 they created a way to connect people in the city and the farmers directly through their subscription service. Now they support hundreds of farmers and families all across Australia. You can choose from a mixed box, beef box, lamb box or build your own. They always seem to have some sort of deal going on too. Oh, and they deliver to most major areas in Australia. Just punch your post code into their ‘deliveries’ section. I’ll def be trying them soon!

Sunshine Coast Organic Meats (SEQLD)
This was my first organic meat delivery serviced I started using a few years ago and they do a good job. They do a mix of certified organic, free range, grass-fed and hormone/antibiotic free. Not everything on the site is certified organic, but it is clear what is organic or not in the title of the food and in the description. They offer delivery throughout South East Queensland from most areas between Gympie through to the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane to Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast. Where I live there are two franchises called ‘Wray Organics’ and ‘Flannerys’ and I often get meat from these two places too. Oh and ‘Market Organics’ is another one in Brisbane.
Home Fresh Organics (Sunny Coast, Bris, Ipswich, Gold Coast)
These guys are a home delivery business that serves Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich/Toowoomba and most areas in-between. They do the standard range of meats – beef, chicken, lamb, pork. Some are Organic, some are Free-Range, some Grass-Fed, some labelled as natural. Just dyo research based on your needs. I know they do carry reputable meat brands like ‘The Meat-ting Place’ plus a lot of aged meat from Byron Bay too. They also deliver other groceries so if you also eat food that isn’t meat then it’s a handy way to get it all done in one go.

Harris Farms are a large fruit & veg grocer and market that mainly do conventional foods but also have a selection of organic stuff including meats. They stock the Cleaver’s Organic Beef brand which I have sometimes and also Hobb’s Chicken which is an Organic Chicken business. I haven’t tried Hobb’s chicken personally or know much about the company so I can’t vouch for it yet. Plus they also have a regenerative section where they have some products that are grown using regenerative agriculture practices such as dairy, wine and even a little bit of meat from Provenir. You can mix it all together in a meat box or buy individual. They have lots of shops in SEQLD and throughout NSW too.
